Thread: 99 cent domain names!

Well, I don't know for sure if anyone has already posted this. I did search, but couldn't find anything.

Godaddy now has 99 cent .info domain names (down from $2.99). I don't know when they may go back up, so if you need to load up on domains (especially throw-away), do so now.

I already have loaded up on 'em.

All the registrar's tried a few techniques a couple years ago to try and fuel some interest in .info's they let anyone and everyone get FREE .info's for 1 year. Up to 25 , .info's FREE ... SO I said what the hell.

Obvious catch was they thought you would build something around it and keep it, then catch you with the renewal fee. Why not right??

That's similar to my business models , which is to give away FREE services. It just makes sense to give something of value to people that will in-turn see the value and decide to actually pay for the service or contribute to another product or service of your business.

That way you build loyalty (my opinion). There's also leaches , but hey, there will always be free loaders.

But for some peoples purposes here.... you can go wrong with those prices.

By the way...

They are also excellent ....... to use for a bit more control and anonymity such as hosting your own DNS on a VPS or dedicated server.

How ?

.info with NameCheap , then use SimpleDNS application on the server. Make the .info the DNS server with Simple DNS and set your name servers for you .com or others....

to the .info that you just established as the DNS server (e.g. NS1.thisismyprivatenameserver.info, NS2.thisismyprivatenameserver.info) ..

Well, thats what we used to do. Helps keep things under the radar when your are doing things like mailing.
