Okay, I just set up a forum on a HG host, and need SEO.


A member of the site suggested backlinks to pull people in.

I joined this site to learn and understand SEO, so of course, I need help

Will someone explain how all this works.

How to get BLs.
What they do.
Advantages of them.

Backlinks give your site authority(authority is good for search engine rankings)

Backlinks are links from other websites to your site. If they are links that the google bot can follow, i.e. do follow backlinks, they act as a vote recommending your site as an authority on whatever subject. The more valid votes you have, i.e. the more good backlinks your site has, the more rellevant it seems at least from the point of view of the Google bots

Backlinks should occur naturally but few people link to you spontaneously. So people do things like article marketing, forum participation with a link in their signature, blog commenting, guest blogging, RSS feeds to try and get as many backlinks to their sites as possible

Okay, so I am SORT OF understanding how this works, BUT ... what do I do to "establish" these?

I mean, say I am just done putting up the forum, what do I do now?
