Default How to Make Fake Stats and Revenue Pages for any site...

Ok I know people hate shit like this (since it's something that people don't want to admit exists) but I don't care it's easy to do, I'm just posting it show people learn to think outside the box. I'm not condoning it and won't admit to doing it, but it's an easy tutorial to make so here it is.

Don't ask me how you can use this since it should be self explanatory. This isn't only black hat, it could be considered fraud depending on how you use this.

This should also be a warning to never trust stats pages or earnings pages unless you trust the person and know who you are dealing with.

    This is extremely black hat.

First thing some tools I use. For grabbing screenshots I use Screenshot Captor. It's free and easy to use. You can get it at
    Code:
    http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/screenshotcaptor/index.html
Another tool I use is FrontPage or Dreamweaver. Any WYSIWYG editor will work fine also just changing the HTML in notepad works fine. A free one that is easy to use is Kompozer. You can get Kompozer at
    Code:
    http://www.kompozer.net/
Just to make things easy I'm going to say FrontPage for edits, although it's pretty much the same in every program and it's just as easy in notepad (using the find tool).

That's all you need and a computer with an internet connection.

First we'll start with the mother of all sites PayPal.

Log into your account. Save the main page. That's the one that shows the total in your account. Once the page is saved. Open it up in FrontPage. You'll see the page loads up, just change the numbers you want to manipulate. Save it. Once it's saved open the file in your browser since it's the most realistic view you are going to get to a real screenshot. PayPal is a bitch with the way they setup their page to manipulate it so just take screenshots of the parts that don't give away the trick. There are so many scammers PayPal makes it difficult to make a screenshot look good. That's why you have Screenshot Captor to make everything look good. Just crop from where you see it doesn't look like the exact page.

    Voila. Your first profit page.

Now do the same with the pages that show some actual numbers. It's much easier if you already have tons of transactions (like me). If you don't, a simple copy and paste can create more for you. Be careful here, you have to use a PayPal calculator to figure out the fees and make sure you keep track of the balance (in my examples I didn't since it was too much work). You'll notice I through in an ATM withdrawal to make things look better. You should also add some purchases and other realistic things to the screenshot.

That's all you need to know for PayPal.

Let's go for a stats page now. Oh my site gets tons of views...yada...yada...yada...check this example out.

Go to a site you have hosted on CPanel if you have one or any type of stats page you might have even Google Analytics. Same as above save the page. Open it up in your friendly WYSIWYG editor and make the changes.

Note: Just like the PayPal one I didn't try for accuracy, I just wanted to prove the point.

Anyway you can do this with any page that fits your needs. I just showed you two big one's. There is no limit to what you can use this on.

I didn't realize this tutorial would take me this long to finish.

Boxing is on so that's it for now.

I've done it a few times, and it's selling... LOL

other than that, you can use greasemonkey and firefox to edit any webpage "on the fly". google it and you'll find many samples.

I forgot to mention Screenshot Captor has an awesome blur tool in it. You select where you want it to blur and click Blur Inside Selection and you can't see what is in it. Makes everything super easy and nice.

    read this thread as well

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=566404&page=3

It was a real experience of a user who did not know how to fake his screenshots properly, and was busted.
    Very informative.

Definitely a good thread. If he would have used the techniques states above instead of trying to get fancy in Photoshop he might not have had that problem. Either way what's stated above is a dirty technique and really shouldn't be used.

Its no crime to exagerrate that which you value when it comes to selling it, so you get what you think is its true value, all businesses for sale do it, but this depends on the level of deception, if your site is getting 10 hits a week and you say its getting 10,000 then its just pure dishonesty. Ive sold many sites and I always put that before they buyer parts with his cash I am willing to sit at a computer with him and log into any sales or stats pages to prove my screenshots are real.

Then again how many people have pages on their website full of false tesminonials !!

Oh I was skeptical at first but after reading your site I bought your product and I must say it really is the business, ..Mr.s Smith from Smithfields and it shows a nice picture of Mr.s smith...he right yeah, like you get people who are satisified with products sending in their pictures,, as soon as you see a testimonial you know its false !

Just a quick update there is a great FireFox extension that makes this even prettier. You can manipulate even more pages without the errors from the other technique with Firebug.
    Code:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1843
A great screenshot program that can get you the whole page is Screengrab (another Firefox extension).
    Code:

I hope this thread not only teaches people how to do this, but helps them realize that virtually every sales page they have ever been to is complete bullshit.
