Default Niche sites- what's a good search amount?

Hi, I am currently researching to start up multiple niche mini sites to make money through adsense, what is a good monthly search amount to look for when determining my target keyword?

Not to be glib...but the most as possible you can rank for. That said...if your just starting out, you want to have SOME success and make something or else this whole thing can sink into despair.

When I started out I shot for 100 exact searches a day. (3,000 a month) You want to prove to yourself that you can pick a niche, get it ranked and make something...even it's a lousy .25 cents a day. (note: that's $81 a year, even with paying for the domain name you made money)g

Here's some advice which will save you 6 months of effort:

ONLY PICK A NICHE KEYWORD YOU CAN GET A .org/.net/.com domain. Exact matches on the domains will get extra SEO "juice" from the start. In my estimation, it's worth about 30-40 quality backlinks.

If you've chose correctly, when you get indexed you'll appear on page 1, and with some push, end up on #1 for your keyword.

As you add more domains, increase the daily searches.

I started with around 3000 as well. Was easy enough if you build enough backlinks.

try 2500 but use phrase match instead of broad. The real key is how high is your competition.

Using exact search, target AT LEAST 1000. But as those guys above said, try aim the biggest number you can.

And don't forget, it's the competition that matters the most. So watch that out too.

if its a microniche, 1000 a month is a big number, otherwise 2500 to 5000 is good, depends on your niche

ok, I have been doing this all by hand... with no tools. Do you guys have any free tools to research the niche stuff? Market Samari and Niche tool both cost money.

Market Samurai has free Trial and i think it is fully functional.

i am starting in Microniche sites too. but i searched for 10,000/month and above. I am a newbie so i did not know that 10,000 / month is a bit high already.
