Thread: Whats the best way to setup Multiple WP Blogs

I have heard od wp manager dx and wp cloner.

But wp manager u have to go into each one and setup and also I think they would all be on the same database. I want them on seperate ones.

Any tips?

I need to host them on my server.

I am talking about setting up a new install with all my settings the way that I want them and then cloning the install including the settings.

I want to be able to have each blog on its on database.

Since this is on your own server you can do this. Set up a sample wordpress blog exactly the way you want it to be, including plugins and maybe theme. When you want to clone this site, go into the mysql/data create a new folder. The name of the folder is / will be the same as your datasource. Now go to your sample blogs data folder, copy entire contents, paste into the new data folder. Your database is almost set up. More about this later.

For the wordpress files, copy the sample wordpress install into the folder of your new domain. Open the wp_config.php file in an editor. Look for the line that says datasource, change the sample database datasource name to your new dastasource name. Remember that is the same name as the folder name in the mysql/data folder.

Go to myphpadmin of your new site, open the table wp_options. You will find three or four entries you will need to change. Basically the site's name and url. Just go through the table list and if you see something that references the sample site, edit the entry to what your new site is.

After you have done this a few times you should have a new site set up with all of the plugins working in 10 minutes or less.

its a lil complicated. .. and their updates are also slow. interface isnt happening. best is to install one wordpress by one. trust me. i have done it a lot

wordpress mu + wordpress domain mapping plugin is the best choice, easy and fast, can build up to 100 blogs a day if u nonstop do.
