Thread: Hiding My Pages From The Merchant..

Hi Everyone,

Been awhile since I have posted here. Got a question for
some of you more advanced guys.

I want to know if there is a way to hide my pages from
the merchant I am advertising for, so that he sees a page
that does not contain his competitions affiliate ID as well,
just his.

For example, I have site A that advertises Coke.
I on that site want to advertise both my Coke affiliate
ID AND my Pepsi affiliate ID, which both get embedded
on the users computer, but just in case the merchant
for Coke comes by my pages, I just want him to see
the HTML code shows ONLY the Coke Affiliate ID.

I hope I explained this properly. I have merchant who
is being stupid and does not want me to create a review
page for anything but his product, and if it does show
any other product, he does not want me to have affiliate
links to that product.

I am done arguing with the merchant because I like the
checks I receive from him, but he is being a ass, as
most merchants are, so I just thought I would go around
him and do it this way. This way when he comes to
inspect my html code, he only sees his affiliate ID's,
but my other identical page with the embedded
affiliate ID's still gets past to the user.

have you thought of encrypting your affiliate link with javaScript? (try the HTMLprotector software)

not sure that possible as you would need to block the content from X IP and you would not know where they are logging in from. but you could rotate the links so they dont appear at the same time.

I got a answer from another great forum. Let me know what

What I am trying to is hide my traffic sources from the
affiliate program I am promoting because I have noticed
that they are stealing my good performing keywords
after I find them.

The solution I found was to first send the traffic through
a secured site, in otherwords, send the traffic first to
https://www.domainone.com. I was told that using a
SSL strips out all referrer data. Then from the secure site
I should do a meta refresh that pauses for 2-3 seconds
to another domain, www.seconddomain.com, and then
the merchant will not be able to see my traffic source.

I have not tested any of this yet, so if anyone knows more
on this, I would appreciate the input. Thanks.

so are you trying to...

1. hide your original site so the merchant wont see his competition on it?
2. hide your traffic source from the merchant?

Sorry for the confusion. I just want to hide my traffic
source from the merchant so he cannot steal my converting
keywords.

Every single time I get a good PPC campaign going, this
merchant comes along and puts up a campaign using
the same keywords. That really pisses me off to no end,
but hey, that's what some (if not all) of theses guys do.

So, the question still is, how do I hide my traffic source
from them so they cannot steal my converting keywords?

My post above mentions trying to use a SSL site to strip
all website referrer data, but I don't really know if this
works or not. Any suggestions?
