Default Ok, Im going to ask a noob question...

I know what cloaking is, kind of, its showing the spiders something different and the real human viewers something else.

But how does this help you rank high in the search engines?? Do you just have thousands of unique "fake" content pages??

Ive used the search box but i havent found anything that makes me any less confused...

Again, sorry for the noob question!

Well, remember the bhw search box isn't your only research tool.

Try typing 'cloaking websites' into google and see what comes up.
Here is the ones you should probably read first:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloaking
    http://www.dwmtech.com/Writing/cloaking_technology.htm
    http://www.webworkshop.net/cloaking.html
After reading those, you should look through the other results in the SERP also.

You need to remember the top search engines are looking for this type of thing. The guys writing the algorithms are probably a lot smarter about all this stuff than you. If you really know what you're doing, it's a risk that you'll end up worse off because of trying it.

My guess is that if you need to ask what it is, then you probably aren't at a level to have very good results with it.

    Good luck

Yeah, i think your right. haha. I'm just trying to figure out the best way to rank my geo targeted websites, up until now ive just used article submissions.

Ive tried SEnuke and Scrapebox. Didn't like SEnuke and im still trying to figure out scrapebox. I just need a consistent and quick way of producing backlinks.

Sigh... Maybe one day i'll know what the hell is going on.

You need to figure out how to balance your backlink building. Read my thread: SEO - Understanding the Simulation.

It just outlines the general theory behind what you need to do, but if you keep it in mind when setting up your backlinking campaigns you can create a more natural appearance of growth.

If you only do article submissions, or you just start blasting out bookmarks all at one time, or blasting out blog comments, or profile links it won't seem natural. As all those links get picked up and indexed it shows up as an unnatural footprint. I can't tell you an exact ratio, there really isn't one. A natural site will have a randomness to the backlink growth, but the type of backlinks will be across the board. It's almost like chaos theory. The initial conditions need to be balanced across the board to get the proper randomness.

It probably doesn't make sense the way I'm describing it. Read that thread and maybe you'll get some ideas that can help.

No, i'm a physics major... it makes perfect sense. At least the part about the Chaos theory does.

Thanks Wolf, i'll look over your thread.

Wolf, I just want to personally say thanks for all your great post. Always helpful indeed. So do you think that products like WP Cloaker are detrimental to SEO or can be utilized properly to outrank other competition? If you have any suggestions let me us know what you think if you could. Thanks.
