Thread: 300wd vs 500wd vs 1000wd Articles

This is just a theory, but I have seen multiple people asking for high word count articles.

In my experience, 1000 words doesn't help any more than 300 words when it comes to articles; in fact, it hurts you.
If I reader is driven to your article because of KW density, and actually hits it, they don't want to read through 1000 words.
They would rather get the information short and sweet and click through the link.

I mean, if you are writing a 1000 word article and make it sound interesting, some people might read it, but some might not.

The percentage is higher for people to read a lower word count, no matter what how "good" the article is.

Let me know what you think, AGAIN, this is just a theory.

However 1000 word articles has more search queries in it?

The optimum size for an article is between 450 and 550 words.... this coming from a guy with over 4000 articles on ezine and over 10,000 articles posting on various Web 2.0 properties throughout the net.

Too short and you do not develop credibility/authority.

Too long and people do not get to your resource box and move one.

This is not theory but rather practice.

Yeah, that is true. I considered that, but was thinking at the same time that getting people to read the article is more important in the end.

Of course putting the ad first would help with that problem :P

The main difference between a 300 and a 500 word article is of course 200 words and the main difference between a 300 and a 1000 word article is of course 700 words .

The longer the article the better, but that depends of-course on the content a 300 or 1000 word long poorly written article with improper keyword optimization will be worth nothing whereas if it is well written and optimized, does not matter how long or short it is but rather what you get out of it.

So as the ladies like to say - Size does not matter what matter is how you use it.

The reason a person should order a 1,000 word article is if and only if he needs a lot of keywords jammed into one article, to get as much long-tail search engine traffic he/she can.

Usually people who do this are not concerned with whether or not the viewer reads the content. Its more about, getting a person to view the article page in order to view either an adsense ad or affiliate ad before even reading the article itself.

Often times, it is because the article is so long, the reader will skim and skip over the article by click on an adsense ad.

In other scenarios, people can write quality 1,000+ word articles about a very popular topic to simply attract or increase their reader base. This however is a totally different ball game, and these type of articles have to be well researched and well done by specialty writers.
