Thread: Hostgator - What The Agent Said?

Hi guys,

I posted a thread in hosting a few days ago explaining I had to change from bluehost becasue they won't let me host porn there.

Now I'm moving to hostgator instead. I was speaking with one of their agents online and he said that their baby plan has unlimited bandwidth. I then said if I sent like 10-15,000 visitors a day to my porn site, would this be ok. He said yeah that would be fine.

I was always under the impression that loads of visitors meant loads of bandwidth but the guy then started saying no it's CPU usage that causes people to have to go to dedicated servers. Like using dynamic sites, php and heavy scripts.

When he said that I was lost (can't design/code/or anything else) so what does this actually mean? Sorry if this is a total noob question but everyone on here is so helpful I wasn't sure where else to ask. I've had a look around google but I don't even know what to put in the search engine, just keeps coming up with more info I don't understand. cguru:

I host my porn sites with host gator & i get around 300-5000 vistors daily i never have any problem with them ive been with them from atleast 8 months. I hope that helps

once you join and are in look in the cpanel, it says your limits. you are limited to 26 "processes" i think

never believe anything that claims unlimited, if your working with flv's to your users expect them to get pissy soon enough, save yourself the headaches and pick a reseller plan at least then ur not just on the cheapest plan and ull get some longer b4 they get pissy

Well the thing is with that, I'm not actually hosting the videos on my site. They're just embedded so that should help a lot.

if they are embedded then they take a load off of cpu because everything is processed on the home server

are you planning to use any scripts ? or just static files ?
