    Okay well this isnt about ebay but i thought this was the best place..I sold an item on ebay..And the person sent the money to me through a "gift" on paypal...i havent ever used this account before..Well as soon as the money was sent paypal locked my account of course..and is holding a large sum of money..And asking for my #SSN Well since i already have a locked paypal under my ssn and this account isnt in my name..How if any if there a way around this? Would hate to lose so much money. Thanks

    Unfortunately there is nothing you can do. I've been in a very similar boat and have seen this happen a lot and there isn't any solution.

    My assumption would be you're doing something Blackhat, or even illegal, but I guess my opinion on what you're doing is irrelevant!

    Either way, you've either got to call them and explain, or wait 180 days. Seen as they're asking for you #SSN - and I apologise in advance to be the bearer of bad news - but you can only wait the 180 days.

    There's nothing else you can do.

    As for why someone would send you a lot of money to purchase an eBay Item via A GIFT? Hmmmm ... suspicious! But, what I think is irrelevant!

    Go into paypal and REFUND THEM, and tell them they are going to have to pay you in some other way.

    See if you can refund the money back and try again, not as a gift, or another payment method.

    i heard that if you can't withdraw money after 180 days paypal become owner of that money. it is really a bullshit policy.
