Default What are some methods of driving more traffic to my eBay listing? (External traffic?)

    Hey guys,

I am slowly getting into the IM game, and when I have spare time i'm always on here now, reading on tips and tricks on how to make money online.

However, I already to make some money online via eBay. I have been selling on there for a couple of years, so I know how to appeal to my buyers and so on.

I am currently selling a couple of products, but I see another seller is selling an identical item, but he has a lot more feedback than me. I have about 200, and he has several thousand. However, I don't think it makes much of a difference, people will know that both the one with 200+ and thousands are both worthy sellers.

I believe he just ranks higher in the "best match" search feature, and as a result when someone types in the name of the item, he is always ranking higher, and thus they enter his page first and he likely converts them into sales.

I have already made a YT video and embedded it in the listing, so people get a better idea of the product. My listing already looks quite professional etc, so that is not really the problem. I want to see if I can drive more (preferably free) traffic to my eBay listings.

I have made a YT video and it is slowly receiving some views on YouTube, so that's fine. However, what other methods can I use to try and increase traffic? Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks very much!

I use two methods that very few people use. When you aren't a huge seller, you Need traffic or eBay is absolutely useless especially for the money they charge.

The two methods are "Like items" and "Valued items"

For example, if I want to sell Wii Remote Covers which is competitive, I will go buy a Nintendo Wii for as cheap as possible, then do an extended auction. At the bottom of my listing, I advertise the Wii Remote Covers. I lose a profit on the Wii System, but just a couple bucks. Its a good investment to point potential customers at like items.

Then I do "Valued Items" I sold the new iPhone just to get views to things that were already selling well, and especially things I was the only person selling. I just used a scrolling display at the bottom and linked cool items. This works pretty well for me sometimes. I make up my loss with increased sales on items I'm making a good profit on.

SEO to listings sucks. I hate doing all that work for paying money for something eBay should be doing with the percentage they charge to sell on their platform.

Do a Xrumer blast. BOOM! And you will be on the first page for your keyword since ebay by itself has authority. That way you can get natural organic traffic.Hope this helped

I go for miss spellings, they always get a few more views and take the exact name of the product and use as keyword and do a bit of SEO and linking and that seems to drive taffic also if you have more than one of the item you can use it long term.

Google have tightened up the rules recently but, if you selling physical products as BIN, then you can also upload your items to Google Base, which a lot of sellers don't do.

Don't think Google allows auctions but I used to include mine by inserting a BIN price.

Media items are going to be a bit of a headache as Google is now asking for unique numbers/ISBNS etc and loads of people seem to be getting their feeds disapproved recently.

Hope this adds another string to your bow so to speak!!

    Hey guys,

Thanks very much for the replies. It seems they flared up all of a sudden!

I am interested in hopefully increasing google rank, and although I agree I shouldnt have to... because eBay already takes a cut thats too big, but at the moment, It's either s e l l at the same rate, or s e l l at a higher rate, so for me it works out better to just s e l l more and cop the extra fees (i make more profit anyhow)

In my niche, the guy who is selling an identical product to me, but selling much more often, has some sort of google links. Because i was once googling for the item in general, clicked a link and if i remember correctly ,it either automatically redirected or contained a link where to "buy froM" and went to his ebay listing...

only problem is, i dont have a store, so my "link" would expire with every new time i relist the item, unless i choose to run an ebay store which will have the same link constants for the item.

    any way around that?

how effective will an xrumer blast be? should I make a blog about the product, (free blog) and have the xrumer raise the google rank of that? and then make the blog auto redirect to my ebay listing (and update the new ebay link every 10 days or so as the auctions expire)?

    Thanks so much guys!
