Thread: Interspire Importing Errors (HELP)

I've installed a new copy of Interspire 6 on a differnt server and for some reason, when I try to import my list, it allows me to define the field titles and then I click import, it shows how many contacts it will import and I click Start Importing. It then quickly flashes to the 'The contact import has been completed successfully' screen.

The problem is that no contacts import. I have tried this with two different lists.

Any ideas? All permissions are set according to Interspire.

Does the CSV in question work on your origional server?

Yes, that is what I do not understand. Both installs are the same... just on different host. I've tried it with two files and both were originally installed on the first server and on the second server, they both get the the Start Importing. And then once I click start, it quickly jumps over to Success page but yet it does not import anything. In addition, it does not show any errors...

I would check your profile settings User Accounts>edit>userpermissions If it is not that then you have to ask what is different about this server?

I am not an expert on this program yet but I am working hard at understanding it and it's quirks.

Sorry, to keep making post after post. Busy at work today. Verify your PHP is not running on safe mode. Lastly I suggest trying a small list to see if it is just choking.

Hmmm. Still, nothing. I tried it from a different PC with small and large list and waited 12 hours. In addition, Safe Mode is not enabled.

Any other thoughts?

had this problem years ago: solution was simple. ( but I did not get it until I tried 20 other things )
depending on the size of the list, do the following.
put the list into excel.
save file as excel
the make sure you have everything in the right slot's IE:emailname , first name ....
then save file as CSV
upload csv to the proper interspire directory
then log into interspire, go to import, tell it it's a local import
and follow the few remaining steps

should work ( have not done this in atleast 2 years ) if there is still a problem then it's most likely it's a weird formatting issue, that's why I have it dumped into excel first

if the file is still to huge, then you need to run a local copy of MYSQl and do it from that.

If its not sending, are you sure the "mail()" php function is allowed on the host?
are you sure everything checks out that the server can mail in general?

I have tried everything mentioned above. In addition, I have deleted the entire installation and created a new MySQL database but still the new installation has the same issue.

I did try these same list on the other Interspire install and it works very well. Premissions are correct but nothing works...
