Blog: Blog seem to be the next big hype out there, yet there is still some confusion as to what exactly blogs are. Blog is short for web log, which is essentially an on-line journal or newsletter that is frequently updated and intended for the general public. A Blog can have either one author, coined blogger, or several.

Forums: Forums are different from blogs because they are authored by numerous individuals, and are more like open discussions then individual diary entries. Forums provide a place for those with similar interests to share their thoughts, questions, etc. Users generally log in to read and post to current subjects being discussed. Forums also come with special features such as personal profiles, calendars, and email notification systems.

Forums and blogs are two different platforms but they are used to build links and drive traffic.

i prefer Forums. because you can get regular updates and regular new topics :)

Well, which do you prefer - blog or forum? I prefer forum cause on forums you can have original contents authored by a lot of users. But in blogs you have to change your contents regularly to keep its PR high.

I prefer blogs for sure !
Forum profile links can be used to have a larger width in link mixture, but they have a very very small effect on ranking.
If you get links from a forum post, thats better.

But blog commenting and links from blog posts are really great for rankings. I have several sites and they are all sucessfully pushed with blog comments.
