Why Don't We All Exchange Links?

I have seen many post on link building but I have never read a post that suggest we all exchange website links.

Why has this never been mentioned, and would it be beneficial for us to do so?

cos then everyone will be revealing their niches and so on. why would they do that?

My niche is Home repair. Not Like I want to hide it from anyone. This is the reason I asked.

I think for people who aren't too concerned about concealing their niche, a link trading thread or something would be nice.

IP diversity for links!!!! Unless if you are getting links from one website/webpage, IP diversity makes no sense.

Search engines have no way of knowing the IP address of the link poster.

Getting One way links is much better than doing exchange links. Search Engines are now smarter and figured that out already... Although it's much better to have a link than nothing
