Ever notice when the police catch a serial killer....the neighbors, friends, and family always say the same thing....."he was such a nice and quiet fellow, I cannot believe he would do something like that".

So, is this a Microsoft I.E. issue only or is it a problem for Firefox also?

Thanks to all of the BHW members who have contributed their knowledgeable replies on this thread. We will remain in "wait-and-see" mode and keep you informed if and when any new information comes in.

In the meantime, we will keep the download thread for SpinnerChief deleted.

    Cheers! - "Wiz"

I must admit I feel there should be innocence until proven guilty as well, but I sure am worried! I ran the software, and afterward a few sites I log into needed me to re-input the info, that was weird to me but I thought nothing of it until I saw this thread. But it could also be having something to do with another download I recently used "SEO Spyglass". So I'm not throwing out any blame. Also the Spinner Chief software was never "installed" on my system I just copied the folder from the zip to my "program files" folder and ran the exe, I also registered, but with a throw away email. Another thing that concerns me is that the "update.exe in the package crashes unless you use compatibility for win 98 which then does nothing at all (seemingly).

So I am still worried but thanks to WizGizmo I feel a little better since scanning with those programs that I lacked for some odd reason...

Only thing I would like to know at this point is should I change my important passwords just to be safe? I am not a IE user, all my passwords are saved to my "seamonkey" (a mozilla browser) application, and I know nothing about the cookies for it either.

And lastly where do I find the ~AppData/Microsoft/Cookies/ folder ?

    thanks!

Wiz already stated that we are awaiting the results of our investigation.
So we don't jump to conclusions about the member who shared this product.

But...let us also not jump to conclusions about the member who reported this or his motives.
I have the impression that he is slowly pushed into a defensive position and has to justify his post.

We, the mods, rather have 10 reports that turn out to be nothing than no reports and members put at jeopardy.

Let's stay calm for the moment and await the outcome.

Sorry, but I can't help but feel someone trying to harm the spinnerchief's creator...
