This one is cheap, won't produce quite a high quality app, but will be viable as an app that can sell.

If you are well versed with PHP and HTML (or some other web programming languages) create your app as a simple web app (web based with many scripts and such). Then in your iPhone, just program your app using the Cocoa kit UIWebView. This would be a much easier route assuming you can get your hands on a MAC and you would almost definitely be able to code it yourself (once you have the WEB part done) for the iPhone in a day (this includes the time you will spend learning the necessary steps for programming [very basic obj-c and very basic iPHone programming practices).

I'm interested in this. I have a mac.
When it comes to the very basic obj-c/iphone programming practices do you have any thoughts on learning this or whatever?
    Thanks

There are a bazillion frameworks out there that aid in development of iPhone apps.

The most prominent one is Appcelerator Titanium. You can build for both the iPhone and Android platforms. You basically write the user interface in HTML/CSS and the logic with JS. In new versions, you can use Python, Ruby, or PHP.

MonoTouch is another framework. It imports the C#.Net language to the iPhone. Titanium is free, while MonoTouch requires a license to publish to the App Store.

In the end, the frameworks aren't as good as you being able to code something 100% in Objective-C/CocoaTouch. The interfaces won't be as nice, and the code won't be as fast.

I can help build you iphone apps my company does this for many clients. the difficult problem I am finding is monetizing them. I think there is a huge market for CPA and Lead generation apps with the right content but I haven't found out the secret sauce yet on how to do this effectively any suggestions?

Great - thanks. Ive been wanting to learn more about Iphone apps. The Objective-C (as opposed to the frameworks) seems like the way to go.

Get a Non Disclosure agreement and Non Compete agreement for me (or anyone you talk to) to sign off on and I will get it done for far less than you would expect....my app has been live for 60 days and I am now earning all profit (with little formal marketing of the APP)-

That means the initial costs of development have been covered...woohoo!

The OP, depending on your application needs, it could cost between $ 500 to several thousand dollars with the code (when you hire someone). If you have no experience in programming, iPhone programming, or target of c-, the creation of the application is going to be difficult and time consuming. The development of an application for the iPhone requires a Mac (cost to you there if you have a Mac is at least $ 300 [presumably to buy used]). So if you want your application distributed on iTunes (the only way to make money with it) will have to pay the developer $ 99 to become an iPhone developer and be registered to submit your application for iTunes.
