Thread: vertical spacing

hello I'm trying to develop a site (as you can see I'm a complete newbie) and am having trouble with text. When I press enter after writing a line of text, the space between the two lines of text is much to tall. It seems as though it's the equivelant to double spacing in a word processor. Is there any way I can fix this and make it the equivelant to single spacing?
