Default Wait 60 Days to Transfer Domain to Hosting? WTF???

Hi! Recently I purchased web hosting from Host, gator (Baby Plan) and even more recently, I purchased a domain name from Name, cheap. So, I go to transfer the domain name to my hosting so I can build a website. The hostgator tutorial points out to me that whatever domain name I have needs to be at least 60 days old and so does Namecheep! REALLY??? There's gotta be something I'm doing wrong! Or is this a new BS law that came into effect or something?

And yes, I am a noob!

    Thank you for your help.

That's your mistake. You should have purchased the domain and hosting both from hostgator.
It can take more than 60 days to transfer because dns config takes place.
So wait because the dns is propgating it's servers.

I do think there is something you are doing wrong. I bought hosting from hostgator as well and domain name from netfirms. I logged into my netfirms account and instantly changed the DNS settings and used hostgator's setings. And It was ok with in 24 hours or so.

Log into your namecheap and use hostgator's DNS.

Listen dude, I have a hostgator reseller account and most of my domains are purchased from namecheap and i have had both accounts over 5 years. So just today, even a few mins ago i purchased a new domain and paid for it. Next i private nameservered it and transferred it to hostgator in lest than 5 mins.

Next i went to my hostgator account and created a new account for my domain in the name of the domain i just purchased and guess what the domain is up and running and i can load up to it whatever i want.

It's always this way for a few years now. It use to take no more that THREE DAYS to propogate a new domain to your webhost while it was making it way through the INTERNIC database, but now it is INSTANT DUDE if you do it right.

You're confusing name transfer with DNS namerserver setup. Most cheap domain resellers have the 60 day limit before you can "transfer" the domain to a new registrar. You have no need to transfer the name to HG to set up a website. Just edit the DNS settings and put your HG nameservers in there. Down the road transfer the domain to a new registrar if you wish.

Yes you are right. Now I understand what exactly the problem he is facing.

@Trintiy, you don't need to transfer from namecheap to hostgator. All you need to do is log into your namecheap account and look for DNS settings and change the name server to something like these

    ns939.hostgator.com
    ns940.hostgator.com

    Hope this helps.
