The benefit of pinging is basically when you let the search engines know that you have updated your blog or website. So if you want to promote traffic, a ping after each update is very necessary because search engines feast on fresh quality contents. Pinging is the best way to notify the search engine that you've updated something new at your website and search engine index them quickly.

You can ping your webpages by using the Google Webmasters Tools.
So, sign in first to GWT.
On the list of your sites click on the site which you want to submit to Google.

As usual, you'll see a list of options in the left sidebar.
    Click on "Diagnostic"
    Click on "Fetch as Googlebot"
Now enter the url and if your page is fetched successfully you'll see "Submit to index" link in the fetched result. Click on it and select whether to submit only that URL or any other URLs linked from there and you are done.
