i think you should add some good backlinks in your articles so that visitors can easily find your articles. good backlinks can increase your income quite a lot more than just writing articles.

The best way to monetize google trends is to throw up a quick blog (on a subdomain or even a blogger blog) and use twitter, digg, yahoo answers (QnA method), reddit and stumbleupon to drive traffic to that site. A video on youtube with the link to your blog also does wonders. But for me, its too much continuous effort to follow the trends, would rather pick a stable niche and work on ranking my keywords for longterm autopilot income :)
